PIMS is now the sole source for confirmation that a NIV petition has been approved.
All questions regarding this new service should be directed to the Bureau of Consular Affairs� Public Inquiries Division of the State Department. You may contact them at the following numbers and e-mail addresses:
Fax Number: 202-663-3899
Public Inquiries: 202-663-1225
Public e-mails (automated replies only): usvisa@state.gov
In case we do receive the electronic verification an email will be sent to you regarding the same. Once you receive the mail you will need to submit your documents to the VFS. We regret we cannot give any timeframe regarding the completion of this process. I hope this information has been helpful to you.

I read on the murthy.com website that the UCSIS needs to go through the Kentucky Consular Center to obtain the PIMS verification. The number for the KCC is 606-526-7500. I am going to try and call them to see if they can give me any information on timelines.
For those people that have not left the US yet, it might be worth it to talk to your lawyers and see if there is any way you can have your names added to this database before you travel - that should eliminate any hassles once you leave the country. Much easier to try and do it from there rather than from here.
There is no number to call here to check on status - I have been sending emails to mumbaiNIV@state.gov but have not received any response from them yet. Not really a surprise. If anyone tries the number above and gets some response please let the rest of us know.

On Aug 17th the message changed to "On Aug 16th Card Production Ordered...."

For me and my family, it took exactly 11 days for the cards to arrive after the CPO mail.
6 days from CPO mail I got the Welcome Notice or Approval notice.

The pain of waiting for 9-yrs is nothing compared to the wait now (after dates got current)...Refreshing my yahoo mail on iPhone atleast twice per hour, Clicking on Safari where the last visited page is that of case status online (Click the status btn frequently) --- Life is difficult :(

Trying to wrap my head around 245i cases. All primary applicants you were physically present in the US on Dec 21, 2000 were eligible to file 485 before April 2001 (with approved labor + approvable 140). Spouses and children of those primary applicants who were not in the country have to apply using CP. So the data provided by USCIS does not contain all those CP applicants. BUT as the dates were current till 2004, USCIS/DOS HAD to know the exact number per country as consulates have to report CP applicant numbers. The only possibility for the discrepancy you mention is that USCIS horribly screwed up and we may have hundreds of CP applicants who are derivatives of 245i. Conspiracy theory ?? LOL. Man, we have to just laugh at our plight.
No racism intended here but historically speaking number of immigrants from Mexico/Caribbean/China probably had more numbers in 245i than India. So, you question remains interesting inspite of the CP applicants possibility I mention above.

Btw, who told you that guys like punjabi and others overbid or bought a house that they cannot afford? They could and still can afford these houses i.e. the monthly mortgage payments; the only thing they cannot do in the current market is to sell it (even at the price at which they bough i.e. break even) and that is why they are stuck with it if/when they decide to move to another city/job - so no point blaming these guys. If you want to blame somebody, blame the banks who appraised the same house at 500k 2 years back which they are appraising at 400k today, there in lies the problem.

I have had couple of LUDs on my cases (9/10 and 9/13) and nothing after that. The last time I gave my fingerprints were in Jan 2009, so I am sure they have expired. Should I proactively get the biometrics done (by taking an infopass and requesting biometrics notice) or wait for them to send me the notice?
Not sure if this will help if I open up an SR or take an infopass. Anyone got their 485 approved while their biometrics were expired?

Heard the same from my lawyer, she has changed her tune completely in 2 days. Now she says that she is hearing the same thing and is possible. They are working through the weekend and has asked me to keep my blackberry on me at all times as they will be providing emails updates every 4 hours or if and when the said bulletin is released.
We are hearing from multiple sources that, on Monday or Tuesday of next week, State Department plans to issue a revised Visa Bulletin for July 2007. This revised Bulletin would retrogress some or all of the employment-based categories, very likely to the point of unavailable. Reports from AILA members about unusual levels and types of activities by USCIS indicate a particular push to adjudicate employment-based adjustments currently in the pipeline so as to exhaust visa numbers for fiscal year 2007.
This follows the actions of USCIS in June, when it began rejecting EB-3 "Other Worker" adjustment applications even though the Visa Bulletin showed an October 2001 cut-off date, on the basis that the "Other Worker" numbers for the year had been exhausted:mad: :mad: :mad: :mad:

Everything coming out of USCIS is a "I-797 Notice of Approval" :) and AP is no exception.
I am far from getting one myself but have seen colleague's approvals - this is printed on the same form like the H1 approval. Whether you subsequently need a stamp on the passport I don't know.

The OP is great. He has created a new id to discuss L1 fraud. Will he be creating one id per issue... recapture, H1B abuse, outsourcing, backlogs?? wow!!!
Not sure why he wants his/ her identity covered up. This shows how good some of us are in trying to make noises in the dark and not doing anything about issues in hand.
In all, I still don't understand why L1Bs cannot work at Client site. I am sure that the L1 petitions specifically ask for Client site / work location. If Client site address is mentioned, the USCIS does approve the petition. If it is against law, they will not approve the petition. I know this for a fact since some of my friends are on L1.
Regarding my identity cover up... I have mentioned couple of times abt the seriouness of the situation as the other party is a multi billion dollar organisation, second please add all the reasons why ICE/USCIS/DOL provides anonymity and whitsle bowler protection to people who brings these kind of violations to their notice.
Regarding working at client site... Yes they do get approved for working at client sites BUT with the condition that they would be working directly under the suprevision of their managers and NOT the client managers (they don't qualify for consulting assignments). Also these L-1B visas are approved for working on speciality skills NOT on common technical skills (like java/.net/DBs/Prod Support etc). Next time read your friends L-1B petition carefully and you could find all these details over there.. also verify the L1 reform act of 2004 (published in this thread).
Regarding retrogression... I agree that L-1B visas are not impacting the same much and also I think if someone in L-1A LEGALLY qualifies for EB-1 there is nothing wrong in getting the GC, If we think thats not appropriate then we should bring this upto the law makers and get it rectified BUT fake EB1s should be notified to authorities.
We are fighting against a fraudulant activity by which our jobs (and hence our GCs) are jeopardized and its not a fight against fellow immigrant BUT a fight against the greed of these corporates to make money even by committing such fraudulant activities.. hope this clears the doubt.

There was a thread related to similar issues which I could not find. Apologies for opening a new one.
Doesn't the above constitute discrimination and illegal ? What recourse do we have when we are disqualified because of EAD ?
