There is vested interest by the Govt and Banks to lend because that's the only way money is created. That explains constant rate cut cycle and stimulating artificial growth. The entire monetary system is hijacked by banks. The debt to ordinary people drives the economy and people pay that debt and interest a good part of their life. Thus collapse of big banks could lead to eventual meltdown of the system, and no wonder govt keeps bailing them out.
In the end personal level frugal living and debt free people are constantly punished by taxing interest like ordinary income and no tax breaks. On the other hand big over leveraged spenders are rewarded with big tax breaks. Why ? Because it allows the well-oiled machinery to work.
In last 10-12 months, this overworked (overstretched) machinery broke down because the debt (and interest) is no longer paid back. Banking system of the entire countries start to fail (Iceland, Latvia, Hungry...). What happens next is anybody's guess, but we will be collateral damage, mine and your savings will be eroded by diminished buying power due to currency printed to bail out the fundamentally flawed system.
The sharp decline in moral and ethics is a direct result of entitlement mentality and welfare society. People feel that they deserve everything without having to pay it back and everyone who is better off must be evil. They forget that simple hardworking people can be rich by simply living debt free and with in the means.
Finally the money from debt driven system might survive but not without huge decline in standard of living, a massive recession and permanent shift away from material possession as a central theme of life.
It would have been ideal if they mandated 1:5 ratio. Unfortunately, with lax lending standards and unregulated banking, people made almost zero down payment (instead of the normal 20%) and bought into loans they couldn't afford in the first place.
I would still blame the borrower 95% for all the mess.

Even if you are on a 24.99, you will have to call up the customer service (or go online) to change your plan to something called a "World plan" (which is also 24.99), then you will not see any charges for international calls.

But the problem is, they mite b stating this under review for all cases to avoid repeated requests and hence the issue..

I got to know that my case is pre-adjudicated and with IO since Sept 20, 2009. But this information is not helpful at all as people have got GC's as early as Sept 01.
Now, whenever I call-I get same msg- that my case is with IO and nothing can be done be done to expedite it.
I have changed my employer only once since filing for 485 and been only with Fortune 500 companies as permanent employees,don't know what is holding up the case- all my coworkers got it by Sept 15th.

The link is related to the fingerprinting background check. Almost 100% of the time the automated system returns an FBI record (an existance or not of a "rap sheet"). Only in rare cases when the finger prints are not clear USCIS sends a new FP notice.

What I am suggesting is that the right time to take this up is when a recession is not in full swing. Between 2004 (when this law was enacted) and 2007 was a great time to pick this battle. Maybe another year down the line would also be a great time to pick it. Picking up this particular battle right now would probably make YOUR and MY lives much more difficult in the medium term.
Like you and the OP - I am a selfish individual. I will pick up only those fights which are in my interest. I believe that this particular fight is a lose-lose proposition in the current climate. I am disputing your (and OPs) belief that this will be beneficial for you/me/rest of us.
Lets take the example of the same Goldman Sachs manager. Tomorrow ICE comes to him and says you need to get rid of these 50 guys under you. What will he do? He cant increase the budget in the current environment. So he probably will hire a couple of GC holders/Citizens and replaces the whole division (with 50 GC/Citizens besides the 50 'violators') with an offshore team.
Think about it!!
Now is the time when everybody is thinking in terms of cost cutting. If you create costly disruptions now - then either the company becomes GM and lose out to overseas competitors or migrates the eitire division out.

Its good to hear from ppl that they got an Yellow form from Infopass etc... I have been to San Jose USCIS office multiple times asking for status.... I just don't receive any concrete information from them...Infact, they are even hesitant to create an SR to request an update...

It's always a good practice to take a receipt notice of any action done by your lawyer & keep that for your records.
When you apply for EAD, soon USCIS will ask you to do fingerprints(BIO-2). I think you missed that part and it might be denied or void as it was left for so long!
You can file for new EAD online at https://efiling.uscis.dhs.gov/efile/InteractionMgr?interactionmgr.interaction=SetupEfo rms×tamp=1127234762990
Create your account & you can file your self with out lawyer's assistance. It's always suggested to file EAD(I-765) & AP(I-131) jointly. You can pay by credit card.
(1) After applying online, you will receive 'Receipt notices' of EAD & AP.
(2) Now a days USCIS will set up an apointment for BIO-2 of EAD.
(3) You have to send supportive documents for Advance Parole, like photos,brief explanation of qualifying for AP...I can give you those sample formats !
Coming to I-485 BIOMETRICS, call USCIS & ask them about BIO. Go to this website & register https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/index.jsp. You must add I-485,EAD,AP & I-140 receipt numbers like LINXXXX and you will get emails when they get approved. You can also see the changes on 'LAST UPDATED' column, which means your case is touched by an officer. But it's not the confirmation of approval until status message has changed or you got an email.
Go thru these 2 links & familiarize well. Hope your I-140 has approved. Finally these are suggestions only & I am not a lawyer. Consult an immigration lawyer if you have uncanny issues.

All my friends who filed their I-485 recently got their Biometrics notice and i didn't get any. Whats wrong with my case?
I am confused , what am i supposed to do?

Simply log in to your vonage account and go to features and configure the call forwarding feature.Configure such that the call is forwarded after 20 sec's. Intially vonage rings and after that it is forwarded to the india cell or landline forwarding number. Its free of charge as calling from vonage to india #'s is free. Hope this puts the debate to rest.

Either employers think EAD is the student EAD which needs to be converted to H1 or they are ignorant.
My suggestion would be to not bring it up....and if it does come up tell the employer that you have work authorization and that the employer doesn't need to do anything. If that doesn't work, then someone is actively discriminating...

Think from your client's perspective:
1. Why should he pay you more if he can get someone for cheaper price?
2. Are you willing to do the same job for the salary that is offered by TCS, WIPRO?
3. If you screw up , who is responsible? What can you do to mitigate damage? TCS/WIPRO can replace the whole team at free of cost to make project successful.
4. YOU guys want to leave companies at will but the companies should not replace you at will?
If you were bringing in value to the client that they cant get from TCS/WIPRO then you will have the job. Get some more skills, be best in the business and be smart. Know what it takes for long term success. You have to be on your toes all the time.

I already took Vonage world phone. I am happy with it. However, I happened to see somewhere in the thread about Lingo offering india calling even through the mobile. That had me give a second thought on switching over to Lingo.
However, when I read the fine print on the lingo site, it mentions you cannot call Mobile phones in India. This catch makes me go crazy. Can some one confirm how are they handling with this constraint. Is that still a good option to switch over vonage to lingo based on this single feature?

However, when I read the fine print on the lingo site, it mentions you cannot call Mobile phones in India. This catch makes me go crazy. Can some one confirm how are they handling with this constraint. Is that still a good option to switch over vonage to lingo based on this single feature?

I would like to give update on visa availability. My PD is 03/06- EB2. Opened SR for me and my spouse on 08/30/10
1. For me, letter by USPS came stating that, I485 is at USCIS local office and will notify about decision in 30 days
2. Spouse got below response by email (On 09/13/2010)
"The status of this service request is:
Your I-485 application is waiting for a visa number to become available. When it becomes available, it will be assigned to an adjudicator to make a decision on the case.
If you have not heard from the service within 30 days after your number becomes available, you can make an Info pass appointment to visit the Customer Service Division,
at the District office"
On 09/14/10 we took infopass and spoke to customer service representative. She told that visa Numbers are not available any more and also checked validity of finger prints in system.
Told us that they are expired (Till now we gave 2 times, one in sept 07, 2nd one in may 09 (FP are valid for for 15m)) - I guess we need to give 3 rd time soon.
She told that dates for FP at ASC center are not available and will try to send us ASAP when Visa Numbers are available.
Did you check if you are under EB2 or EB3 with USCIS?

I do not want to spoil the fun and do truely appreciate the efforts by the IV team. But after sitting in the GC queue for 7 years, all my hopes nearly dead. Campaigns come and go but nothing ever happens.
